Fundraising for the Korobi Foundation: An Inspiring Start
March 2024 marked the beginning of our fundraising campaign through the local church and a special sponsorship campaign. During Lent, we received a very cordial letter from Bishop Simon of Bunda, in which he responded enthusiastically to our proposal to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) together. This collaboration gives us the necessary support and recognition from the ecclesial community.
During a Lenten meal in the Peter and Paul Church in Soest, we met an enthusiastic couple from Tanzania. This meeting led to great new contacts and strengthened our network. In addition, an insert in the church's Mass booklet yielded two beautiful gifts, which was a sign of the commitment of the parishioners.
At the beginning of Holy Week, we started a sponsorship campaign that has paid off. Kimberly-Clark, a well-established company, donated five pallets of toilet paper to us. Thanks to the selfless cooperation of Bas van Doorn, owner of Eemland Animal Feed in Soest, we were able to start selling the toilet paper in his shop. Bas made his shop available completely free of charge, which was a great support for our action.
Because we value cooperation and mutual support, we decided to donate part of the proceeds to the foundation Eemland Animal Care Foundation. A local animal welfare organization. This gesture was very much appreciated by both Bas and his customers and contributed to the positive atmosphere around our action. More about this later in one of our next blogs.
The sale of the toilet suits was a great success. In addition to the proceeds from the sale, we received many warm reactions and several additional donations. The local community showed their support in a heartwarming way, which encouraged us immensely.
An additional contribution came from the Peter and Paul Church itself. The proceeds of the 2023 Easter Candle were also donated to the Koroboi Foundation. This contribution was an unexpected and very welcome surprise.
Thanks to the efforts and support of many people, we were able to raise approximately 4,000 euros for St. Mary Kibara Hospital in a short period of time. These funds will directly benefit the people of Kibara, Tanzania, and help improve the hospital's healthcare facilities.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed. Without your support and involvement, this would not have been possible. The successful start of our fundraising gives us the motivation and confidence to continue with our mission: to alleviate the need and improve the living conditions of the people of Kibara. Together we can make a difference.
