The Maternity Ward:
A step towards better care
There is an urgent need for new beds and mosquito nets in the maternity ward.
On May 1, 2024, the Koroboi Foundation reached an important milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Catholic Diocese of Bunda in Tanzania. This partnership marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to improve healthcare at St. Mary's Kibara Hospital. The first project focuses on the improvement and repair of the hospital wards by purchasing new beds, mattresses, mosquito nets and lockers.
Multi-Year Plan for Improvement
At the request of the Koroboi Foundation, the board of the hospital has drawn up a global multi-year plan. This plan provides guidance on the order in which improvements should be made:
- Repair of the wards
- Starting up a pharmacy
- Renovation of the buildings
- Purchase of an X-ray machine
- Laboratory improvement
The First Building Block: Improvement of the Departments
The first project focuses on the basics: the improvement and repair of the departments.
This includes the purchase of crucial resources such as beds, mattresses, mosquito nets, and lockers.
Habari marafiki -
Asante sana for Kibara!
In this short film of about 50 seconds, you can see at a glance what we have been able to achieve together thanks to your support over the past year. In two rounds, we were able to help St Mary Kibara Hospital with the purchase of new hospital beds, mattresses, mosquito nets and lockers, and now with a package of new medical equipment, including a modern anaesthetic machine and other essentials for the operating theatre.
In recent days, Father Mapendo - who handles the day-to-day running of the hospital on behalf of Bishop Simon - sent us photos of the delivery and installation of the new equipment. Along with those photos, he wrote:
“Habari marafiki. Asante sana. Thanks a lot for the love and concern for Kibara hospital and people in Bunda Diocese. The equipment once installed will be of paramount importance to the sick. God bless you and your friends for this great love.”
Freely translated: “Dear friends, thank you very much. Your love and commitment are of great importance to the hospital and the people of the Diocese of Bunda. The new equipment will be of great benefit to the sick. God bless you and all your friends for this great love.”
These few words sum up exactly why we embarked on this project together - and what your support means concretely for the people of Kibara.
Continued from 2026
With the completion of this phase - the new beds and medical equipment - we will continue to work with the Kibara Hospital board on new next steps from January 2026. The elaboration of this next phase will be followed later on this (revamped) project page and in the blogs on our website.
