An inspiring step forward - our visit to Valencia
-
In our last newsletter, we already announced that the board of Koroboi Foundation would meet in Valencia in mid-September for a special visit. Meanwhile, we look back with gratitude on two intensive days full of meetings, inspiration and new perspectives for the future of the hospital in Kibara.
Meetings full of confidence
On 15 September in Valencia, we spoke at length with Bishop Simon Masondole and sister Maria Almudena. It became a warm and frank meeting in which trust and mutual understanding were at the centre. The bishop stressed the importance of restoring Kibara hospital to its former reputation. Not only as a place of medical care, but also as part of his personal mission: healing as a mission - not only spiritual but also physical.
The following day, we were welcomed by the Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV). Several professors and specialists shared their commitment and plans to provide concrete support to Kibara.
Missions are planned in October and November, which will include medical reports. These insights are essential for us to determine how to shape much-needed support to the hospital.
Looking forward and choices
The next few months will be crucial. Together with the board of the hospital in Kibara, we are looking at how we can make a difference in the short term - for example, by purchasing medical equipment and other resources that directly save lives.
Valencia doctors' reports will provide guidance in this regard. They know the challenges from the inside and will help us set the right priorities. We will also explore together opportunities for structural improvements: from training local staff to sustainable solutions in energy, food and water.
Our promise
What this trip showed us above all is that cooperation across borders is not only possible, but also fruitful and necessary. Step by step, we are building a solid foundation of trust, always putting the interests of the people of Kibara first.
Koroboi Foundation stays true to its promise: small, targeted projects, with no overhead, with direct impact. And always in close cooperation with people on the ground.
Together, we make light visible - like the koroboi, the little oil lamp from which our name comes.
