Newsletter #19 December 2024 – Koroboi Foundation

Dear friends of the Koroboi Foundation

We would like to inform you about a special first year of our Koroboi Foundation. Thanks to the efforts and support of many, we have taken concrete steps in improving care at the Hospital in Kibara, Tanzania.

New Maternity Unit in the Hospital

The most special thing this year was the festive opening of the new maternity ward of the hospital of Kibara on December 6 by Bishop Simon van Bunda. This department previously consisted of only a number of written-off beds with torn mattresses. Thanks to donations from many, our Foundation has been able to contribute to the purchase of new beds, mattresses, mosquito nets and lockers in the maternity ward. The gratitude of the locals and hospital staff was intense and heartwarming. This milestone marks not only progress in local healthcare, but also the strength and effectiveness of our partnership with the local Hospital.

A New Milestone for the Koroboi Foundation: Signing the MoU

Clean and safe

Thanks to the efforts of many local volunteers, the hospital has also been given a fresh look and safety has been improved by fencing off the site.

International healthcare professionals

In addition, the hospital has started a collaboration with the University of Valencia, which ensures the arrival of international healthcare professionals. This will give the community in Kibara access to better care and further develop the skills of local caregivers

This positive flow has visibly changed the hospital: the number of occupied beds has more than doubled and there is optimism about the future. We are grateful for these steps, and realize that we can still improve a lot to bring care to a higher level.

Looking forward

December is partly about looking ahead. We are doing everything we can to achieve our first objective: 'replacing all beds in the hospital'. This requires a total amount of 19,000 euros. We still have a few thousand euros to go.

We hope we can count on you. Every contribution, large or small, brings us closer to a hospital that can even better meet the needs of the poor, sick and vulnerable in Kibara and the region.

O.v.v. Gift Koroboi

The name Koroboi, a small oil lamp that brings light into the darkness, symbolizes what we achieve together. We hope for a flame that warms many. On behalf of the board and the people of Kibara, we would like to thank you for your support and friendship.

We wish you happy Holidays and a healthy and hopeful new year.
