Koroboi Foundation newsletter - December 2025

-

Dear friends of Koroboi Foundation,

We would like to take you to Kibara again at the end of this year. Thanks to your support, the hospital is growing step by step - and together with you, may we be a small koroboi light for patients and families there.

A message that sums up everything

Today we received from Father Mapendo - who arranges the day-to-day running of the hospital on behalf of Bishop Simon - a series of photos of the new medical equipment purchased, thanks in part to your support.

With the photos, he sent these words:

“Habari marafiki. Asante sana. Thanks a lot for the love and concern for Kibara hospital and people in Bunda Diocese. The equipment once installed will be of paramount importance to the sick. God bless you and your friends for this great love.”

Freely translated into Dutch:
“Dear friends, thank you very much. Thank you for all your love and commitment to Kibara Hospital and the people of the Diocese of Bunda. The equipment, once installed, will be of great benefit to the sick. God bless you and all your friends for this great love.”

Quite honestly: we cannot say much better than this ourselves why Koroboi Foundation exists.

New equipment for the operating theatre

Together with the board of St. Mary Kibara Hospital, Bishop Simon, Sister Maria Almudena, Father Mapendo as well as our partners in Valencia, we have carefully considered over the past months: which investment will help the most now?

Based on the annual plan and the more planned CHOP approach (a way of working in which the hospital plans step by step what is needed in terms of people, materials and money), a package of crucial medical resources was chosen, focusing on the operating theatre. These include:

  • a new anaesthetic machine (anaesthesia machine),
  • some key monitors and diagnostic equipment.

As Koroboi Foundation, we bear 60% of costs, in total € 20.750. The remaining 40% comes from the hospital and local partners.

Take a look: from Valencia to Kibara

In a short video on our website, we show what has happened since the summer:
our visit to the university in Valencia, the medical team that travelled to Kibara, the joint plan for quality improvement and the purchase of this new equipment.
