On the road to new plans - and a special meeting in Valencia

Project update August 2025 - Koroboi Foundation

In our previous blog, we proudly recounted the successful completion of the project around the new beds at Kibara hospital. A visible step forward, made possible by the support of so many. Now, together with the hospital board, we look further ahead.

We feel the right time has come to work with the hospital board to start making concrete plans for the short and medium term. We have now been provided with a clear statement from Kibara: an overview of medical equipment and resources that are in urgent need of replacement. This list focuses on three crucial parts of the hospital:

  • the operating room
  • the laboratory
  • and the maternity ward

These include outdated, defective or missing equipment and materials that directly affect the quality of care. Of course, as a foundation, we don't want to simply purchase, but careful consideration. Consider:
🔧 reliability and maintenance
💡 ease of use in local conditions
📉 Depreciation and expenses
🧭 which is most urgent?

To deepen this process and arrive at the right choices, we decided to further intensify our cooperation with the hospital administration. In September 2025, therefore, we as a board will travel to Valencia, for a face-to-face meeting with:

  • Bishop Simon of Bunda, chairman of the hospital board
  • His assistant and secretary Maria Almudena
  • And Pedro Bayarri, affiliated to the University of Valencia

The University of Valencia has maintained a valuable cooperation with Kibara hospital for several years. A good example is the special project in which Spanish therapists and students worked together on innovative paediatric rehabilitation Based on occupational therapy. During our meeting in Valencia, we want to deepen our relations, strengthen our mutual commitment and above all, the plans that are now on the table going to concretise together. This is an important step towards a better-equipped hospital in Kibara.

💬 Good to know: this trip is funded entirely from the private funds of the board and does not constitute a burden on the assets of Koroboi Foundation.

In our next newsletter we look back on the past six months and look ahead to this meeting and the next projects.

Sharing together, with love.
