Koroboi Foundation receives ANBI Status and draws up Policy Plan

We are pleased to announce that with effect from 18 January 2024, Koroboi Foundation will be the ANBI status (General Benefit Giving Institution). This important milestone recognises our commitment to Kibara and Kibara Hospital. If you want to become a donor and live in the Netherlands, the ANBI status often also allows you to deduct your donation from your tax return. ANBI status plays a crucial role in pursuing our mission: supporting the poor, sick and vulnerable in Kibara, Tanzania, especially through our focus on the local hospital.

Our newly drafted policy plan will serve to guide our efforts in the coming years. We believe that the most effective way to support Kibara Hospital is to respond directly to the needs identified by its own staff and board. The projects we support are truly tailored to their most pressing needs. With your contribution, we acquire and replace essential medical equipment and tools. By investing in modern and reliable facilities, we enable doctors and nurses to provide the best possible care.

In the coming period, we will strengthen our partnership with the hospital by means of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU sets out the responsibilities and expectations of both parties. It is a foundation for our joint efforts, to ensure that all resources are used effectively and that the voices of local health care providers are at the forefront of our initiatives.

Our policy plan outlines some important goals for the coming years:

Our aim is to use Kibara and the surrounding area between 2024 and 2026:

  • to raise the level of care and medical assistance.
  • reduce the causes of poverty and disease.
  • improve acceptance, love and care for the vulnerable, such as orphans and people with albinism.
  • embedding the above in locally operating solutions and the deployment of local specialists, administrators, workers, entrepreneurs and organizations. So that the local community benefits from it.
  • to strengthen people in their own strength and to attach them to their own community and environment.
  • promote cooperation that makes it possible to achieve goals earlier or more efficiently, both in Tanzania, in the Netherlands and elsewhere.
  • provide help and support to third parties, active with similar goals in Tanzania, the Netherlands or elsewhere.
  • make agreements with the board of the Kibara hospital about measurable results, products and performance, as well as about replacement and maintenance.
  • provide insight into the spending of donated money by accounting for it.

Obtaining the ANBI status not only legitimizes our efforts. It also opens doors to new financing opportunities, both within the Netherlands and internationally. With minimal costs, virtually every euro donated goes directly to Kibara Hospital. Our board members work on a voluntary basis and ensure that all funds are allocated to impactful projects.

As we move forward, we will keep you updated on the progress of our initiatives and the impact of any contributions you may have. Transparency and accountability are very important to us. We regularly share reports and updates to show the tangible differences in Kibara.

The granting of the ANBI status, the creation of our policy plan and the upcoming MoU with Kibara Hospital mean important steps forward for the Korobi Foundation. Together, we can bring light to those in need, true to the spirit of our name, Koroboi – a small oil lamp that lights the way for the poor and vulnerable.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
